About these terms
These terms apply to orders placed with Richmond Bakes, a home bakery in Worcester. Please read them before you order. By confirming an order, you agree to them. They don't affect your legal rights as a consumer.
Enquiries, quotes and confirming your order
- Sending an enquiry doesn't place an order or commit you to anything.
- We'll reply to confirm what's possible, the details and the price. Quotes are valid for the period stated in them.
- Your order is confirmed once we've both agreed the details in writing (a message is fine) and any deposit has been paid.
- Please check the confirmed details carefully, especially names, dates, spellings and allergy information.
Payment and deposits
We'll tell you how and when to pay when we confirm your order. For celebration cakes and larger orders we may ask for a deposit to secure your date, with the balance due before collection or delivery. We'll always explain what a deposit covers before you pay it.
Changes and cancellations
If you need to change something
Let us know as early as you can. We'll always try to help, but late changes may not be possible and some changes may affect the price.
If you need to cancel
Because our bakes are perishable and made to your requirements, the 14-day cancellation period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 doesn't apply. If you do need to cancel, please tell us as soon as possible. We'll refund what you've paid, minus a reasonable amount for costs we've already incurred and can't recover, such as ingredients or decorations bought or made for your order, or a date we've turned other orders away to keep free. We'll explain this when you pay a deposit.
If we need to cancel
It's very unlikely, but if something outside our control (such as illness or an emergency) means we can't make your order, we'll tell you as soon as possible and refund everything you've paid for it.
Collection and delivery
- Orders are collected from our home kitchen in Worcester at a time we agree together. Please let us know if you're running late.
- Delivery may be possible by arrangement; we'll confirm any delivery details and charges with your quote.
- Once your order has been collected or delivered, it's your responsibility. Carry cakes on a flat surface (a car footwell is ideal) and keep them cool and out of direct sunlight.
- Bakes are perishable, so if an order isn't collected at the agreed time and we can't reach you, we may not be able to keep it.
Allergens and dietary requirements
All our bakes are made in a home kitchen that handles common allergens, so we can't guarantee any bake is free from them. Please tell us about any allergies or intolerances before you order, and share the allergen information we give you with anyone who'll be eating your order. See our allergen information for more.
Designs and the handmade finish
- Everything is made by hand, so small variations from photos, sketches or inspiration images are part of the charm.
- Colours, especially very bright or dark shades, can vary slightly from screens and samples.
- We're happy to be inspired by your ideas, but we can't copy trademarked characters, logos or other people's designs without permission.
- Some decorations aren't edible, such as cake toppers, ribbons, wires, fresh flowers and the dowels and boards that support tiered cakes. Please remove them before serving.
Freshness and storage
Our bakes are made to be enjoyed fresh. We'll give you storage and eat-by guidance for your order; please follow it, because we can't be responsible for problems caused by storage after collection.
If something isn't right
We want you to love your order. If something isn't right, please tell us as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours, and send photos if you can. Keeping the item (or what's left of it) helps us understand what happened.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, what we sell must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If it isn't, you're entitled to a remedy such as a replacement or refund.
Our responsibility to you
We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren't responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for breaching your legal rights as a consumer.
We make bakes for domestic and private use. If you're ordering for a business, we aren't responsible for any loss of profit, business, or business opportunity.
Photos of your bakes
We love sharing our bakes, so we may photograph your order before it leaves us and post it on Instagram. If you'd rather we didn't (for example, if it's a surprise), just tell us. We'll never share photos of you or your event without your permission.
